Pitch a piece
We welcome pitches that make a sport easier to understand: a focused explanation, a useful comparison or a fresh way to follow a familiar game. The strongest proposals answer a real reader question without promising certainty the subject cannot deliver.
What to pitch
Send ideas about rules, formats, tactics, equipment or match-watching. A good pitch identifies the sport and specific question, explains the central point, and shows what a reader will understand afterward. We favour evergreen subjects that can be explained without unsupported statistics, first-hand testing or claims about current events.
What to leave out
We do not seek betting picks, guaranteed predictions, disguised promotion or advice that depends on a reader's personal circumstances. Tell us if your proposed piece has a commercial connection or relies on a source or access arrangement. Do not send confidential material or claim experience you do not have.
How to send an idea
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short outline, the intended reader and a brief note about your relevant experience. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; please send the idea rather than a full draft unless requested.
A score is only one part of the game.
Know what to look for and a match becomes richer: not because every moment has a hidden meaning, but because you can see more of the choices at work.
